this is a note from me to you. all of you.
let me tell you a few things.
we need to be kinder.
we need to pay better attention to the people around us.
we need to help those who are struggling.
we need to find less space for hate and judgment in our lives.
we need to know, and spread the word, that no matter how hard things may seem at any given moment in our lives, they will get better. they do. they get better. i promise.
we need to not presume to know things we haven’t experienced.
we need to be kinder.
i am home. i am taking a personal day. my groceries are probably sweating in their bag, waiting to be unpacked. the dog is vying for my attention. i’d like to get up and open the window and let this beautiful day into my apartment. but i had to write this first.
in your real life, on your blog, in your family, find less space for criticism and darkness. find more space for understanding. find more space for your humanity.
people need you. people love you.
don’t ever forget this.
i’ve taken shit for believing that anyone reading this, EVERYONE reading this, is a stranger-friend. well, fuck that. fuck the belief that we can’t make connections and changes and be improved and enlightened by each other. we can and we do.
and this is me telling you, stranger-friends, to be kind. above all. overtly. immediately. widely. truly.
